Estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC)= 002253
Pell Grant Estimate - $3,395.00
Direct Stafford Loan Estimate - $5,500.00

I earned a merit scholarship of $4,500 per year and 18k over 4 years
The college costs $21,019 per year (estimate from collegeboard)

My parents are immigrants from China and never went to college
My dad is 70 years old and retired
He receives around 20k in retirement assets
My mom is 58 and working minimum wage
She makes around 30k a year

They have around 60k in the bank

I have a brother in college and he earned a full ride so would that affect my financial aid? I am worried I won’t get much money

I am thinking of getting a job now because I’m worried of taking out student loans.
Also will AP classes affect my financial aid? I’ve taken 7 and I’ve already earned 12 credits and with this year I can earn about 16 more. If I enter as sophomore status does that mean I won’t go to college for 4 years and will that affect my merit scholarship?

You should run the NPC of the colleges that you’re interested in.
Your EFC should accounted for the number of college students in your parents’ household.
No.
If you attend college for three years, you will get the scholarship for three years.

Don’t take what collegeboard says the school costs. Go to the school’s website and see what the college says. And yes, find the Net Price Calculator(NPC) in the school’s finaid pages and run it. If you post the results, we could help you interpret them.

Are you a HS senior?

There are two kinds of financial aid, need-based and merit. You are eligible for some government need-based aid that you listed. Whether the school will give you some of their need-based funds depends on the school and perhaps how much they want you. Merit based aid is based primarily on your HS GPA and ACT/SAT scores. What are they? Congrats on the scholarship you already have.

Whether you could graduate in 3 years depends on your major. Business, education, science, CS, engineering, math majors have many sequential classes that could still take 4 years due to prereqs. With other majors it may be possible.

He receives around 20k in retirement assets

Are those retirement payments PLUS social security?

When you use the NPCs, you need to be sure to put your dad’s income in the right place. since those earnings aren’t from working a job, they will have a tougher calculation.

What schools did you apply to? What is your home state?
