Hi, I’m 16 and about to begin my senior year of high school. My GPA is 3.96 and 4.18. I’ve aced AP classes such as Chemistry and Physics, and I’m darn sure I passed both exams (Haven’t got the scores back though) I take many AP classes throughout the school year and do fairly well in all of them. I do multiple extra curricular activities as well (sports, faith based, educational)

Anyway, I really like chemistry and I know I’m going into the medical field and I’m leaning toward the pharmaceutical side of things. My chemistry teacher said he totally approves of me trying out pharmacology because I said I wasn’t sure about running a pharmacy store. I think mixing compounds and trying to find a solution to a disease sounds pretty freakin awesome hah. I’m going to go to the University of Kentucky and they have one of the top 3 pharmacy schools in the country, thus making it highly competitive.

So my questions are:
- Are my grades average/above/below what a typical high school student would need to go into a program like pharmacology?
- What can I do, as a high school student, to improve my knowledge/skills in this area besides my AP classes, or do I even need to worry about it at this point?
- What types of jobs are available for pharmacology majors and graduates, and are they stable?
- (optional) if you so happen to have experience with the classes or career in pharmacology, could you give your opinion on it?
