This goes without saying but I’m a senior having difficulty writing these darn PIQ’s. The thing about my situation is that my father, who was the only breadwinner in our family, passed away during my freshman year because his arteriosclerosis eventually led to a heart attack. Becoming accustomed to high school coupled with my father’s passing was a significant challenge since it was extremely difficult to cope and tell friends about it. I still only have a select few friends who know. I didn’t find the time to get involved in EC’s since I was mostly preoccupied with my older brother and my mom as well my own mental and physical welfare. I spent most of the freshman year and the summer trying to settle everything so I never had the mental break that students would usually have after their first year of high school. I also have to help paying the bills since my mom doesn’t know how to use a computer since my father was the type to try and assure the family’s well-being by himself while my mother was mainly a homekeeper. I found myself gaining almost 60 lbs and this really affected my self-esteem. I was able to get decent grades throughout my freshman to sophomore year A’s and B’s. I got decent grades as well throughout junior year getting mostly A’s and B’s but I received a C on one semester of calculus AB and another one on a semester of chemistry AP. These C’s were my fault, I don’t attribute them to a result of my father’s death. It was simply too heavy a courseload for me. As of now I have A’s in all my senior classes except for calc bc (B+) but I know senior grades do not factor in except for them to make sure you’re maintaining your courseload and grades.
So my question is should I choose this as a significant challenge (the 5th prompt) or include it the additional comments (There’s an additional comments section, right?) ? Thank you for those who read all this through and responded. I would give you a cookie if I could but for now I’ll just give you a virtual cookie of appreciation.
