would it be worth the trouble

i took the ACT in october and they were already sent to and recieved by Cornell because i applyed ED but right before i left to take the test i got a call that someone in my family had died. Because of this, I did not score very high on the test and i was wondering if it would be worth it to tell cornell that someone ha died right refore i took it…

What did you get?

They don’t care. Retake it, score signif better, then tell them your story.

You can’t retake it if you’re applying ED unless you get deferred then you can try again. Besides, if all other areas of your app is good then your ACT doesn’t matter unless it’s below a 25.

just cancel the score

You can’t cancel your scores now, it’s too late.

i only scored a 23 due to the circumstances. i can’t cancel them because they were already sent there and they were recieved. and i can’t retake them because i applied early.i know that they won’t care that i scored low it just seems like it might be a kind of important to tell them. but

Was that the only time you’ve taken the ACT? What’s your SAT score?

There’s nothing you can do. It is out of your hands. Stop wasting your worry on your Cornell application and move on - your other applications ARE worth worrying about, and you can use this time to improve them.

23 on ACT, what is that when converted to SAT, it would definitely hurt ur chaces. b/c it either shows ur irresponsible and dont care about these things or u arent that bright

ihatesq@t, i know that you re one of those posters on cc that just tries to **** a bunch of people off whenever you post something. what i said in my very first post was that someone had died!!! that TINY fact made it a little hard to concentrate during the test. that has nothing to do with how smart i am or how much i care . It’s NATURAL HUMAN REACTION TO A DEATH!!! you are just showing how stupid you are and how much you don’t care about anyone but yourself.

i second the above

i had anxiety during my chem satII , i got a 470

the lady at cornell said they really look at your strengths, not weaknesses. I’m sure this won’t be an auto-reject

Sending an e-mail to the admissions office is not too difficult to do. Although in hindsight, you probably should have e-mailed them sooner and told them. I’m not accusing you of lying, but in the eyes of the admissions office, sending an e-mail now seems kind of suspicious and perhaps a made up excuse for the poor result. Just keep that in mind. Hope everything works out for you.
