I will be graduating after the fall semester of 2008. However, I realize that its too late to change my major and I have followed through. The problem is, my international relations degree isn’t something I want to pursue in graduate school, nor is it something that I find really useful in what I want to do.

I was awarded a full scholarship for all four years at my institution (Grand Valley State University) and when I graduate, I will only have a $5000 debt (which I took out for my study abroad). Other than that I am debt free.

Thus, I’ve been thinking/debating very hard about what I should do next. I’ve decided I want to get a second undergraduate degree at a different institution. In other words, I feel as if I’m a freshman all over again.

Now in my situation, would I be considered a transfer student or a 22 year old freshman?

Thanks in advance…

It really depends on the school you are looking to apply to.

Unfortunately, most private schools do not accept senior transfers and they dont accept applicants seeking a second bachelor degree, either. However, i think it would be possible at a state school. Where are you looking to apply? You need to contact the school that you are considering to see if this is possible. Keep in mind that the chances of this happening are really small.

As my EFC is $0, I was looking at Princeton, Harvard, and Stanford.

Besides the prestige factor, I’m also looking at schools who offer good programs in sustainability and construction management. Specifically: Arizona State University.

However, if an Ivy league or Ivy-level does accept second bachelor degree pursuing students, and I get in, I would probably choose to go with these schools.

I hate to bring in the bad news but…

Princeton does not admit transfers.

You dont qualify for Harvard:

and you may not qualify for Stanford either, but you should contact them either way. Here is more information:

As I previously mentioned, most private schools do not accept senior transfers/ second bachelor degree students. Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Brown, Stanford, etc = Private.

You should look at state schools.
