i want to sign up for Japanese 7a; however the class is currently reserved for certain students, myself not included. would it be possible to sign up for Korean 7a (as a backup), get on the waiting list for Japanese 7a and drop Korean 7a if I ultimately end up enrolling into Japanese 7a? If so, when will I find out whether or not I’m actually enrolled in Japanese 7a and what will be the deadline to drop Korean 7a?

Yes you can sign up for Korean 7A and waitlist Japanese 7A and see if the you can get into Japanese. You will need to attend the Japanese class and ask the professor to give you a Class Entry Code to be able to get the class for sure. Or you will have to wait until the department finishes the manual waitlist when school begins and to check if you have been placed on from waitlist go check bearfacts.berkeley.edu.

If I remember correctly the normal drop deadlinie is the 10th Week of School for L&S and if you are in L&S then you can drop Korean before that time. If you aren’t in L&S you’ll have to ask you deans’ office.

You need to drop before Sept. 8th without a $10 fee, and sept 29 is the last day to drop. After this date you need the deans approval.
