Has it ever happened? What are the special conditions? My 12th grade brother is a huge fan and wants to go to UM, but he has a 3.1W. He attends Northville High School (in-state). He says he could get a 3.8+, but he loads himself with AP classes, and has a pretty good number of credits so far. I can tell he’s not lazy or anything because I see him locked up in his room studying frequently. I really want him to succeed and go to UM. Here are some of his stats:

-In-state
-URM/First-gen college student
-2040 SAT/29 ACT
4 years of language
Award letter from congressman

He wants to go to LSA and major in computer science

Got no problem with gaining info; you deceiving people/trying to pass off stories as truth is disrespectful to the people who chance you. If you want to make a hypothetical chance thread go ahead… dunno why you’re worrying about admissions in 8th grade anyway- stats could change dramatically by the time you’re a senior.

Assuming you are actually an 8th grader (which I doubt)

In state +
URM +
First Gen college student +

The university really likes those things. They love diversity too. I would never say there is no chance if you are an in state URM looking at a field with little to no URMs

^Yeah, but the GPA 3.1 WEIGHTED, which is what he wrote, would only fly like MAYBE from Thomas Jefferson or some such, not from Northville.

Sorry, I say big reach, unless everyone else at Northville has something in low 3’s and that weighted GPA is somehow in the top 10 percent…which I’m betting it isn’t.

Realistically, the university can accept whomever they want for whatever reason. There may be internal governance around admissions but there is no public criteria for accepting or rejecting particular applicants.
