Would where I attended undergraduate affect my admission?

Hey, guys…here is my situation:
I am attending USC (University of South Carolina) for my undergraduate in Biochemistry. I am about to graduate…Got a job in NIH as a lab assistant.I am thinking about working a year before going to med school.
Anyway…so far I have a 4.0 GPA/4.0. took MCAT twice and got a 42 and a 39…have great recommandations and community service records and bunch awards…
But my concern is that University of South Carolina is not a top school…will this affect my chance of getting into JHU or Duke or whatever?..
I know I will get into some med school but I am really aiming for top med schools (that is why I accepted the job in NIH…supposely help you in admission…)…tell me what you think!

This is def a ■■■■■. NO ONE would RETAKE a 42 on the MCAT…NO ONE!!!

Okay, time for the truth: you’re a high school senior deciding between USC and Winthrop. You’re posting as a senior with these stats to figure out from answers if attending USC would hamper you. Yeah, I’m that good. Some tips for improvement on your next lie: USC doesn’t have a Biochemistry major, and anyone smart enough to get a 42 isn’t dumb enough to retake.

To address your insecurities and real question: It probably would affect your chances, at least slightly. That’s not to say you can’t get into a top level school (Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, and Baylor upcoming matriculation for friends in this cycle), and application-wise, you won’t be limited. But norcalguy seems to think top 20 students are disproportionally represented at top medical school interviews, even accounting for the fact that they’re generally going to be better students from those schools. I guess I can roll with that.

We’ll see what happens this cycle. I’d like to say I have a pretty good application, and my roommate has pretty much what you made up in your post. Let’s hope the effect is minimal…
