Yale is indeed more willing to look at many factors, however I think you are underestimating the level of competition for a coveted spot at Yale. For example: Here’s a kid who was also heavily involved in theater in high school, who was accepted to Yale in 2011. If the choice came down to this student, or your hypothetical student, or my daughter (who was also heavily involved in theater but rejected from Yale), my guess is that Admissions would “hands-down” choose this student no matter their ACT score or GPA.
