Please be honest! The idea of college acceptance has been gnawing at me for awhile.

I can’t figure out how to edit this, because it’s 1:39 in the morning, but:
When I interviewed with a Princeton alum, we seemed to get along very well. She told me I seemed quite “motivated.”

Teacher recs: One was written by my math teacher of three years, who’s like an uncle to me and holds me in pretty high esteem, I think. The other was written by my history teacher, whom I also get along very well with.

Essays: I wrote about Neil DeGrasse Tyson/Carl Sagan and how they’ve inspired me by making science accessible. I don’t know how good it was, but it was passionate.

Nothing jumps out as unique…

Your chances of getting in are quite slim. Your SAT 2 scores are simply horrible and your GPA is also pathetic. I would suggest you to start looking up community colleges.

Well, Bioboy, I appreciate the honesty.
Prudent - uh, thanks. But don’t slam community college. My mother went to community college. George Lucas did, too.

I hope that you get into Princeton but to be honest, you probably may not get in. But it’s not your fault. Lot’s of excellent students like you get rejected every year. So if that does happen, don’t take it too personally.
And WUSTL is also an excellent school and i think you have a really good shot there
and btw why have you only applied to these few schools? You have the stats to get into some really good schools :)

Hey,

Before i say anything let me make it clear, that 2130 is a lot more than an average score. Princeton will view your application holistically, but this SAT in princeton will not benefit you atleast. Your essays need to be amazing and so do ur LORs… Ivys are reaches for everybody…but it doesnt mean that you look out for community colleges or lower tier schools with such good scores and its simply pathetic to judge your gpa as pathetic.

Make sure that you elaborate your interests in your essays, send in an additional rec from someone you have worked with, in your field of interest… Hope you get in princeton, and do great things!

One more thing, If it helps please check out whether your college of interest will accept FEB- ACT scores, because trust me a lil prep can do wonders… for example, I got a 1810 in my SAT !!! way lower than your scores (definitely not sending it…and i have a lot of reasons and excuses for it but thats not the concern nemore…) But then I prepd for the ACT and got a 35!! (Equivalent to a 2360 SAT score) …an amazing jump…
Best of luck xxatux.

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1266957-chance-me-harvard-penn-cornell-brown.html

If you are a VA resident, I’d say you have a good shot at Tech & W&M, extrapolating from the experience I know of several students last year. However, I also read all the VA publics had yet another increase in applications this year. So it’s more competitive in-state. OOS is always competitive - so a coin toss? Montanna (in-state safety?) might be an interesting hook to them - W&M (which has summer humidity the way the northern Plains has winter!) likes to have some folks NOT from the East Coast . Good luck!
