Is it normal if a person has gone through grade school, high school, and college without any friends?

Normal? No. Bad? Not necessarily.

I’m guessing you’re using a rather strict definition of “friend.” What kind of relationships have you had?

not at all normal.

it might not be bad. but it’ll be hard for you to form relationships in the future without that experience.

Seeing your previous posts, not for you

looooooooooool

Well, humans are social animals and we have survived and evolved to be a pack animal so no, I would say it’s not normal.

I’m not talking about myself btw.

Actually, I would consider this normal. People need to realize that friends and acquaintances don’t mean the same thing. Just because a person doesn’t have any friends doesn’t mean they went their whole lives sitting in the corner of the classroom by themselves not talking to anyone. People define the word “friend” differently. Some people think that if you know someone by face, they’re a friend. Others think that people who you share laughs/good times with in the moment are friends. And there are so many other interpretations.

I have friends, but I don’t have many. I’m not ashamed or embarrassed to say this simply because the few friends that I do have have proven over time that they are true friends, care about me, loyal and so much more. I’m into quality over quantity. I rather have 5 real friends than 500 ‘meh’ "friends.

Stratus, going by your definition of friend, it is even more unhealthy to “not have any friends”. Everyone needs someone to talk to.

No friends at all? Doesn’t seem normal. Humans are naturally social creatures. Everyone needs someone to talk to once in a while.

I agree with a previous poster that the definition of friend varies by each individual. On that note I guess we could also question your definition of normal. Though base on your question I would say no ( but this still varies on your own and others definition of friend), as it is normal to actually make friends throughout different periods of ones life. This does not mean that something not normal is bad.

Stratus, I’m actually the same way. While I have only about 2 or 3 friends, I have many acquaintances. My social skills are quite refined in that respect, however, I never hang out or do things people in their 20’s usually do.

Definitely not normal. Most people have friends, therefore having friends is the norm.

Whether or not it’s healthy or a bad thing depends on the person.

Some people just tend to be loners. It’s what they are most comfortable with.

“my social skills are quite refined…” ■■■■■ dude you’re a tool

Not unless you’re a shepherd.

gag, you act like people with friends don’t also have lots of acquaintances. if anything, i’d say the bigger your friend group, the larger your acquaintance group, and the better your social skills are just from sheer experience.

I never said that.

connotation vs denotation, man. you implied it. if i was incorrect in my assumption, then i’m sorry and you can just act like i was speaking generally.

Yes. You were just speaking in general.
