Hi, for what it’s worth I had a Big Chill fridge & dishwasher and my home sold for over ask…as you might guess I have one in my new home too. LOVE THEM.
67 though. Gosh I feel poor now.
Wow, THANK YOU @kingist! I was hoping to read something along the lines of your comment!
By retro you mean mid-century modern? Or earlier? My kitchen is a bit retro (soapstone counters, eggshell recessed panel cabinets, subway tile, linoleum floor) but my house is 1928/29. I think it is Blue Star that makes ranges that can be painted in whatever color you choose. Oh, and I recommend Bosch for dishwashers. We bought a Miele because we believed their hype that it would last 20 years. It didn’t. Bosch was cheaper, also had a third rack, and is just as quiet.
Oops, sorry I missed you @CCsiteObsessed! Great suggestions, thank you. I’m not sure what I mean by retro.
Well, I went off the deep end and bough a bunch of stuff from Big Chill.
This is either going to be a genius move on my part or one of the dumbest things I have ever done.
^^Life should be an adventure!
Beach Blue.
Heaven help me.

Congrats! Great color. Do let us know how it all turns out.
Love that Beach Blue. Good for you @SouthFloridaMom9! Wish you could post pics when it’s all finished.
Wonder if we can post pics @Overtheedge? Once I get it all set up and tweaked I would love to post pictures.
You can change your avatar to a picture of your new kitchen.
So, I’m reviving this thread for anyone who is interested.
I did indeed install the beach blue Big Chill retro appliance package.
It took us a LONG time to finish our kitchen this past fall. I went at least 3 months with a hot plate and toaster oven. For a couple months we had plywood counter tops. No dishwasher until at least October (?). I really thought I was going to pull my hair out. By the end I was threatening to move to a student apartment LOL.
The positives: Big Chill really makes beautiful stuff. It’s like something your grandma would have, only brand new. The high quality of the fridge and stove, especially, is noticeable. I was coming from Thermidor appliances in my old house which cost big $$$ but were ultimately disappointing from a functional standpoint. The BC fridge and stove are not only beautiful, but functional as well. The kitchen is pretty, and bright. We did chrome hardware on white cabinets with white subway tile. We have hardwood flooring which didn’t turn out right imho. We may have to re-do at some point.
Our first dishwasher from BC, unfortunately, was broken. It’s actually a KitchenAid appliance, and unusual to have a problem right out of the gate (we had it professionally installed and don’t think that was the problem). Big Chill did replace it quickly to their credit.
My Big Chill gas stove took much longer to ship than originally estimated. I wasn’t too happy about that, especially after they kept telling me it would probably ship the next week and then didn’t for various reasons. They also offered free shipping right after we purchased our appliances (with white glove shipping) and did not offer it to us. Moreover, the ‘white glove shipping’ turned out to be a grumpy delivery service who had no clue and didn’t even want to deliver stuff inside the house (much less put it in the right room).
Aesthetically speaking, it’s probably too much to do the whole package. In hindsight I would do ONE color appliance (i.e., not all). But we live and learn. I personally love it even though it’s a little quirky. Also, I think I might have done green instead of blue, though the beach blue is very pretty and my H loves it.
Anyway, that’s how it turned out so far for anyone thinking of a kitchen remodel. I’m still tweaking the design and hoping to post pics somewhere. All in all, I love the Big Chill appliances so far.
Thanks for the update. Since you started this thread, I’ve seen reference on several design sights that colorful appliances and kitchens are the hot thing. You started a trend.
Aww thank you @doschicos!
In my dream of dreams I would have gone with the pink big chill fridge (solo, not with other color appliances). Someday . . .
Love your color choice!
Thank you so much for the update!
I’m sure the room looks great!
Nice to have the update on the appliance quality. As my 1924 house has mid Century maple cabinets with nice doors, I am figuring out how to keep to the era, but update appliances and add some open shelving.
Post a photo as your avatar, if you have time and inclination. The colors sounds like such fun!
I would love to see a photo! Sounds really fun.
Me three! Pretty please. It sounds fantastic.
