Would you pass up a chance to meet a Duke prof?

Okay, so my mother’s got some random connections. She convinced Dr. Steven Churchill, a professor at Duke University, to come all the way out to California to give a lecture to a bunch of community college students…basically for free (all the comm. college had to take care of was hotel accomodations and airfare).
Dr. Churchill is a professor of Human Paleontology in the Anthropology department at Duke.

So, I have a friend who at one point in time was interested in going to Duke, who also wanted to major in anthropology. I tell him months in advance about this chance to meet the head of that department at Duke, and that if he wants, he can come out to have dinner with my family and Dr. Churchill, maybe talk a little about their interests. Of course, that might be awkward, so I offer also to take him to just the lecture as an alternative.

Fast-forward a few months, and he’s here, in California, ready to give his lecture.

My friend ditches, without a telephone number to reach him at, or any idea where he’s taken off to.

Would YOU miss out on an opportunity such as this?

gah! IM SO SORRY !!! :frowning: :frowning: :frowning: :(

Ur friend was naive in not going for the meeting with that Prof.
