Would you recommend traveling by car or plane the week of Thanksgiving?

Does anyone have experience with driving from St. Louis to Nashville before Thanksgiving, and then back to St. Louis the Sunday after Thanksgiving? My D is planning on trying to find a ride, but I am wondering how bad the traffic is during the holidays. I’m especially concerned about the Sunday after. I know from traveling in other cities that traffic can be terrible and am considering looking into plane reservations. However, I’m not sure if routes I24, I57 and I64 get as much traffic as other interstates. Any advice?

As a mom, I worry about the same driving issues. During holidays the traffic is bad on the major highways. So my advice: It is safer to fly…Wash U offers shuttle service to and from the airport during Thanksgiving I believe.

STL to Nashville is an easy all-freeway drive that takes not much more time than flying if one takes into account airport security and typical travel delays at T-giving. I’ve driven this route many, many times at T-giving and never encountered terrible traffic. So if your D is a good driver, I would have no problems recommending the driving option to her.

suitemates should purchase a router and 1 bundle. TV in livingroom, and one person’s computer is connected to ethernet and other computers can go wireless because of the router. Everyone splits costs. I think it is weird that Wash U charges for internet & cable–they are filthy rich!
