Would you wear a slinky outfit to a company party?

By covered, I mean no overt sexual display. Angela Merkel wore a low-cut dress to the opera and it was an embarrassing mistake:

A form fitting dress on a fit body, with no cleavage or excessive thigh exposure, has plausible deniability, but putting it all out there is not a good idea if you want to project dignity/authority in a work setting. Entertainment figures follow different rules; their power is based on their ability to fulfill fantasy, not deal with/lead actual people.

Whoa, didn’t know Angela had that in her. She comes off as very “buttoned up.”

I agree that much cleavage is generally a mistake (outside Hollywood.)

If the pro-boob European media says in unison that was too much cleavage… It was waaaay too much.

^They were quite long and droopy.

Absolutely not.

@VaBluebird
They weren’t long and droopy?

I would not wear anything slinky at all, anywhere.

And I do not doubt that anyone who would wear something slinky to a bar or party with friends would have no reason not to wear it to a company party.

(I just don’t see any reason on Earth to show off one’s body to strangers, let alone colleagues who one hopes would take you seriously. But, whatevs…)

Really? You’ve never, as a woman, had a desire to look hot / sexy? I don’t mean sleazy or slutty, I mean attractively so. Never wanted to look desirable, project a certain image?

This year’s company fete is Bollywood themed. Gotta figure out how to wrap a sari.

Bollywood sounds more interesting than “A Night at the Hoedown”.

Ha - I see what you did there - “ho” down.

Unfortunately, several women thought that’s what it meant.

Oh where have all the cowboys gone?

Sexy is not the same as slinky and is certainly not the same as slutty. We have a company holiday party every year, and thinking back I can’t remember what anyone wore (except for the one wife who always wears Missoni and looks great in it). I can, however, remember who got distressingly drunk and behaved inappropriately. The drunks always end up having to be fired, sooner or later, and usually not for drinking, at least not directly.

Our company holiday party is Vegas themed. That should lead to some interesting choices of attire!

I think I need reading glasses because I ready it as “stinky” outfit. Oops!
