Wow---cool news!

I’m a microbiologist now but many years ago I took chemistry for my medical technologist degree…
I think a mole is a unit of concentration. Like 6.02 X10 fifth per something or other… how’s that for lame??? Liquids around my lab can be ‘molar’ concentrations, like 1M HCL.

I know a REAL chemist will be by to correct my baaaadddd defintion!

For an indication to your D of where she might go with this, look up The Standard Deviants on amazon.com. They’re a theater troupe that makes hilarious detective videos to teach kids algebra (“In Search of the Missing X”). Best wishes…and get a lawyer.

Congratulations, that’s very exciting news, and so nice to see such a positive, happy thread.

Nunofyurbeesknees–my D says a mole is a scientific unit of measurement, as in—I have a mole of pebbles. It’s 6.02 X 10 to the 23rd. If you had a mole of pennies, everyone in the world would have a trillion dollars. It’s a pretty big number. Probably not on Youtube now, although you can see her video for These Words at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjlUrc6b9BQ.

My friend Jay and I made a poster and series of comics featuring Max the Mole when we were in Chemistry. It seems to be an Anciente Tradytion.

My son and your daughter are much alike. He is currently writing his third short film. His first was a book report on Amy Tan’s book “The Joy Luck Club.” It was shown throughout the English department at his school. He played a series of “people in the street” giving their reactions to the book. He also was the lighting crew, videographer, sound technican, writer, director and producer. My favorite scene was the “Emo Kid” who said that, “This book changed my life. It gave me a reason to live again.”

Congratulations!

tanya, that music video is adorable. Is the little girl also one of your kids? She’s a cutie.

No, she isn’t mine, she’s my niece. Isn’t that video the ultimate portrait of a tween, though? She’s a very cute kid, and loves to do these videos.
