Wow---cool news!

My D has been involved in performing arts since she was 6, watching adults shoot movies and TV shows, etc. Several years ago, she began to shoot video on our home camera, and make school projects with it. She has made 5 or 6 Chemistry music videos for her Chem teacher, several for projects and the others just as favors for the teacher. They are funky little music videos…very funny ones…for different chem subjects such as Mole. She began to make other music videos, and was just told on thurs. that she is a finalist for the NJ Gov. School for film making. But the next day, her Chem teacher from last year came to pull her out of history class to tell her that she had just attended a Chemistry teacher conference and had shown my daughter’s mole video. The teachers loved it, and now want to buy them. They want the 6 she’s already made, and want her to make more about more subjects. Wow! What a cool week! She’s actually rethinking her life plans…she may want to do this for her career.

That is very cool–congratulations to your daughter!!

Great news! Wow. You have a very talented D.

How exciting for your D! Sometimes you never know where the door to the future is going to open.

tanyanubin: This is really exciting! Congrats. Make sure her intests & product are protected, though. You don’t want her ideas stolen. After she’s selling them, post onfo on how to order them & we could spread the word.

tanya~

OMG, CONGRATS to your very talented and obviously creative daughter! I have always been intrigued and amazed by stories such as this which demonstrate that sometimes, things can just happen out of the blue that have the potential to alter your life goals and aspirations! What a wonderful and surprising event for your daughter! I wish her all the best as she embraces this new endeavor! :)

~berurah

congrats!

I helped with a small independent film project last weekend and it is a fascinating field!

Best to your daughter !!

Congrats to your D, tanyanubin! Having known a lot about your D over the years related to theater from another online forum, it is very cool to see the various ways she has grown and where her talents are leading her. It is interesting to see all the various ways that a person talented in the arts may go in various directions. I know a girl who did a lot of musical theater and dance but ended up going into filmmaking at Tisch as well and is a senior now in film. It appears that your D has found her “calling” and her talents are being recognized in signficant ways. Enjoy!

Fascinating. That is great news! Good luck to your daughter.

We have a similar young lady down here. Plays sports but is very involved with the school’s broadcast journalism program and has been making team and sports tapes for various athlete/athletic groups at her hs. Based on her state championship football tape, was nominated for and received internship in film venue. It’s amazing what some young people can do today!

That is way cool!! Congrats! Was she able to film the moles above ground or below ground? (*just kidding!! *)

Can’t sayit any better than Berurah, who always nails it! So, simply put, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

If your daughter is selling the “mole” video on dvd, PM me. Seriously. My S’s favorite teacher (chemistry) dresses up in an elaborate furry mole suit every year and it would be great to give him the video to play on his now infamous Mole Day.

LOL! That’s awesome! My D’s chem teacher is a mole day nut, also. The classes have to do special projects. She had a special mole day cheer " Six point OH two times ten to the twenty third—huh!" So my D ordered a stuffed mole online, and went to build a bear and got one of those little recorder things. She dressed the mole in a cheerleader outfit, and recorded the cheer on the little insert thing. Some of those projects got pretty elaborate! Thanks so much for all of your well wishes. It will be fun to see where this goes. If she gets things into production, I’ll message those of you who want them.

That’s awesome. Congratulations to your daughter!

See stuff like that is sooo impressive to me. For kids to be able to do something so creative, use their talents, and produce something that is useful to society. You should be so proud of your daughter. SHE should be so proud of herself. And keep it up!

And congrats for the finalist for NJ Governor’s School. Your D sounds EXACTLY like the talented, creative person that will make the most of it!

Cool
Any chance that they’ll be on Youtube for public viewing?

congratulations to your daughter - how wonderful for her.
I must have been asleep in Chemistry because I have no idea what Mole is. Can someone please explain in simple terms?

Go to an intellectual property lawyer before you sell anybody anything! Get numbers of a few lawyers from the info from your local Bar Association, then interview serveral and chose one to represent your D. You may also want to check with the professor who teaches intellectual property law at your local law school.
