Okay, I’ll admit I never took the hype about their relationship very seriously until today’s announcement. But, now they’re very publicly and joyously engaged with the apparent blessing of The Queen and a ring with diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection. If there’s anything profound to be harbinged about global social change, this is certainly one of them! As a person who experienced a lot of social and political marginalization growing up, I can only see this a a positive thing, and take great pleasure in the poke-in-the-eye this provides racists and zenophobe worldwide. Congratulations, you crazy lovebirds!

Not a surprise at all to those of us in Toronto. They have been seen regularly around town here for over a year now while she’s been here filming Suits. They seem very happy!
It has been fun to watch, and great to see Harry as an adult for the last couple of years. I hope they stay as happy as they are today. And they are going to have darned cute kids.

Sometimes, love is worth the circus. And they seem to be fairly guarded compared to American celebrities.
Not only a commoner but divorced! And American! I’ve been rewatching The Crown in anticipation of season 2 (next week, next week!) and saw the struggle of the Queen over Princess Margaret’s request to marry a divorced man. The Queen was okay with it, but the Archbishops wouldn’t allow it. Killed them off and everything is fine. Margaret divorced and remarried, Anne too (but she took her kids out of the royal life). Now there are all kinds of divorces and remarriages among the royals.
Sadly, I don’t think I’ll make the guest list.
It seems that in the long aftermath of the diasterous marriages of Charles and Diana (which was said to have been aggressively orchestrated by Queen Elizabeth), and Fergie and Andrew, the Royal Mum may have decided to take a much more hands-off approach, letting “the kids” decide their own love lives. Rumor has it Kate has been giving Meghan extensive tutoring as to the ins and outs of Royal Life. I hope she took copious notes, as it does not appear to be a lifestyle for the faint of heart. The wedding is planned for next Spring. I wonder if it will be televised worldwide.
It better be! 
Harry is in the same position as Prince Andrew was when he married (#2 bumped to #4 by the births of William and Harry) and they still made a big deal of his wedding. They did not make a big deal out of Prince Edward’s marriage years later.
