Wow, Harry and Meghan!

I can’t see her working still. The energetic “Suits” story line with Mike would be a bit much for the Queen, I imagine.

I have no idea why, but I can’t get enough of them. They seem so genuinely happy.

She seems super smart.

@TQfromtheU They said she is phasing out acting. Of course the British press is not know for accuracy and they are not always charitable with coverage. They can be passive aggressive. I think they may be a little stuck with Meghan because they don’t want to be racist so they can’t be too negative even though she is American.

@“Youdon’tsay” They say she graduated from Northwestern so a smart gal and poised and comfortable with the media. Harry seems so happy. Bet they have a low key ceremony but I hope part is televised. I still remember getting up very early as a little girl to see his mother wed.

I believe you can only be a Princess (with your own name) if you are royal blood to that line. That’s why Andrews girls are Princess Beatrice, etc, but Kate will never be Princess Kate. She can only use that title with her husband’s name…Princess William. Same with Diana. She was never really Princess Diana.

^No I think Kate will be a Princess when William is King.

She wouldn’t be a queen?

^I don’t think she can. Prince Philip is a prince. I thought it depends on your title at birth but I could be wrong.

Kate will be Queen Katherine when William becomes king. The current queen’s mother was Queen Elizabeth. The woman married to the king before her was Queen Mary.

However, the male consort of a queen does not become king. Phillip is called Prince because he was a prince of Greece. He is usually referred to as the Duke of Edinburgh.

Elizabeth is a Queen Regnant, as she inherited the title. Kate will be a Queen Consort when her husband ascends to the throne. Britain does not have the notion of a King Consort; the person married to a Queen Regnant does not get called King.

True but she won’t be known as Queen Consort Katherine. It will be Queen Katherine.

Interesting…now I want to know. Just because the Queen Consort is called Queen Kate or heaven forbid, Queen Camilla, is that her official title that should be used. Same as the Princess thing? I know we will call her that, but when they are officially announced, would it be something like “Their Royal Highnesses, King William and Katherine the Queen Consort” or will it be Queen Katherine?
L
Also, it wouldn’t surprise me if Charles backpedals and let’s Camilla be the Queen Consort, which she has every legal right to be.

Charles can let Camilla be a Queen if he wants to, but I think the pressure to NOT allow that will be HUGE. They say she’s very hard working but there is too much history with her and the absurd emails. No one wants to relive all that.

I do love a good royal romance! I was in the UK 2 weeks ago to visit S2 at school. In London we saw one of the royal fairy tale carriages rolling down the street complete with a driver and horses dressed to the nines. (too bad we couldn’t see who was inside) We also toured Windsor and the beautiful St. Georges Chapel - fabulous place for a wedding!

As a side note - if my H took me to a remote/exotic place for a couple of weeks complete with long walks, deep conversations, a quaint cottage, dinners for two and nightly wine by the fire…well my eyes might be sparkling too!!!

^Yeah, a safari in the bush would definitely do the trick.

In the UK, correct, unless the monarch issues a Letter Patent creating a person Prince(ss) in his/her own right. This is what the Queen did to make Philip a prince in his own right. Since Philip renounced his Greek/Danish titles shortly before marrying the then Princess Elizabeth, he was just plain old Philip Mountbatten until his wedding day when he was created Duke of Edinburgh (but not a prince). Although incorrectly referred to as Prince Philip, he did not become a prince again until 10 years later.

So in the UK, it is rare for a woman to be created a princess in her own right, although it is more common in other monarchies.

Meghan loves to cook! Check out some of her recipes.

She doesn’t just cook - she grills! Even her TG turkey. That’s a woman of my tribe! B-)

Didn’t Harry propose while she was roasting a chicken @greenwitch That recipe is a keeper.

@conmama , Queen Elizabeth isn’t Her Royal Highness, she is Her Majesty and that is what Charles and William will be when the ascend to the monarchy. Charles has implied in interviews that he will see to it that Camilla is crowned as his consort despite the assertion when he married that she would remain a royal duchess. I tolerate those two because William and Harry are big enough to be accepting of them, but all of the television coverage of Diana’s death in August reminded me that I really don’t think highly of them.

I watched a PBS show last weekend about the Royals and turns out the Queen was on Diana’s side and thought Charles was acting like a jerk, that he hadn’t been supportive enough. And of course he had been a big jerk.

I’m also not a Philip fan, but he did get a few points for helping William through the funeral. William didn’t want to march behind the casket but Philip told him if he didn’t he’d regret it forever and that he, Philip, would walk with William. Turns out Philip and Diana corresponded after the divorce. I don’t think Philip likes Charles much either.
