wow..has CC become the new facebook?

calla! You were next on my list!

No more green games.

LoremIpsum - Well, I would “like” your comment if I could! :)

<<<<< clicking heels of ruby slippers three times>>>>>> there’s no place like home…

jym and LoremI: I just clicked on your names in honor of your diligence this winter. Didn’t work, but you and the others will always exist in CC history. Perhaps someone can create an Urban Dictionary entry to immortalize the event?

I’m surprised it took 2 months to kill it. It was quite ridiculous!

Thanks confetti! I feel I made some new friends in the process. :)

And have some new idols - jym, LI. ;)

A lot of us stopped posting and reading the site partly due to the little green squares. I know I will probably post a bit more often. It did create some factions, and it showed some alliances that weren’t always apparent. If you got caught up in the politics of the site you could always tell that some people were aligned with others-but the squares make it obvious.

I think just the opposite happened. The greenie silliness, at least in the prestigiosity and facebook threads, allowed many posters to interact with each other who might not have otherwise crossed paths or posted in the same thread. It was fun to get to “know” and interact with some old and some new posters.

The “puffing” that occurred in the 2013/17 thread already had an “alliance” in that they had a common bond of kids applying to school at the same time.

It looks like you posted pretty regularly over the past 2 mos of the greenie “experiment”, MizzBee. What posters stopped reading/posting because of the greenie reps? Haven’t seen or heard anyone mention that.

I’m going to defend MizzBee in that I am aware of a couple of people who DID at least curtail their visits here on CC because of the greenies - of course, I wouldn’t be so insensitive to post “who” they are!

Greenies worked for some, not for others. It’s not a clear cut debate.

I feel naked.

I know of folks who just simply ignored the greenie thing and went about their business reading/posting in other threads. That was fine. I am sure there are posters who come and go for all sorts of reasons, but if they felt the need to change their reading/posting because of the greenie thing, thats unfortunate.

That’s how I felt yesterday, but it’s sort of a relief not to have to put on all my squares this morning.

I agree with jym. Actually, I am surprised, and pleased, to see that jym and others knew about us. We do have the best thread…ever!

We had such fun puffing each other when one of us needed moral and psychological support, as we all struggled through the trauma of being the air traffic controllers of our kids’ app process. We also puffed a lot as originally intended, as we often advise each other about some useful tip. Now what are we going to do while waiting for the results to arrive? I would like the ability to Like a Posting; that is a good idea.

The reason I titled thread …“the new facebook” was for just that reason. I thought the green square would create a popularity contest and the kind of self bravado on facebook with people posting what they ate and how special their lives were and other people “liking” that. To me that is facebook at it’s worst. At it’s best it connects people. I have used it to share funeral information and in one case to return a lost dog to it’s owner (one friend lost a dog, another found the dog and they do not know each other IRL).
I find CC the same way sometimes. I have a son in grad school and a daughter finishing college. I’ve been on cc since son 1 started this process. I’ve moved to the cafe thread only and enjoy the discussion of downton abbey, dogs, and toilets. I’ve had some great laughs via cc over the years. I’m not interested in the green squares or in a popularity contest or polarizing myself with an “allilance.”

I agree with jym  and DDHM  I am not too concerned whether or not I have a reputation I just liked the camaraderie. Maybe we can have a selection of little boxes. i.e.: this comment was helpful….this comment is liked…this comment is funny…I agree… Keeping the focus on Positive………notice that we are all still here BTW?

What was kind of fun on this thread and the other related one, was interacting with people who I had read on threads on which I lurked (yep crittermom you were one on a Parents thread for a year different than my student) but never directly “talked” with.

Well, NOW I know why they shut down the rep system…clearly the 2013/2017 thread was collectively headed to Betty Ford…;)!!!

OMG Yalemom I am laughing so hard……Everytime we talked about “puffing” I pictured us all sitting around the dinner table with a HUKA!!! :D

See, I pictured aerosol cans and plastic bags (a la huffing).
