Wow i guess anthropology is super easy to get in with (UCLA)

I am an anthro major and i got in with a 3.15, no tap.

yea, that’s because it is one of those majors you can’t do jack with

good luck working at starbucks

the realist… what is your major???..i bet your mad you probably didnt get in

wow look at these haters…

kinda true though… i got into asian american studies at UCLA… and im prob gonna go to UCI because i got in as a business econ major there…

what r u gonna do with anthro?

really, i’m hating. Why don’t you ask people who’ve graduated with any of those degrees or similar majors and see what they’re doing. Besides those in academia, law or med school there isn’t much

i meant to have a question mark after hating, intended to say really, im hating?

yeah, who said i wanted to do something with anthro, i have plans for dental/pharm school, i just did anthro to avoid competition with bio majors.
I just enjoy the subject of anthropology way more than biology.
Also, since you CAN apply to med/dental/pharm without actually being a life science or chemistry major, i think ill have my upper division be something i enjoy. Most of the pre reqs for those grad schools are satisfied in lower division bio and other courses which ive completed.

^ but it will be much more difficult… wouldn’t it?

+1 to therealist

EDIT: In that case…have fun with the competitions in dental/pharm school :)

i dont really think so, everything thats covered on the MCAT or the DAT is material from lower division sciences. The avg gpa of those accepted to some of these dental/meds are lower for majors other than life sciences as well.

before the edit…^ digging fossils sounds bad ***

wow some people are amazingly bitter. if this is how you treat disappointment, by insulting other people, you are going to be in for a rude awakening at one point or another

digging fossils is part of the archaeology branch of anthropology, i like physical anthro the best.

UCLA hopeful- Anthropology 2010!!! Can’t wait!!! Congrats to everyone admitted!

ok the realist…stop hating…

I agree…anthro is really easy to get into, and that getting jobs probably won’t be the easiest.

I chose anthro because I enjoy the cultural aspect of it…and I want to travel. I also enjoy physical anthro…My cousin was an anthro major a UCLA, and he got into med school

People should and could do what they want…so what’s it to you…

but I mean is this even worth a thread?

I guess its common to assume a person would want to do what their major is as a career, but i just didnt wanna fall in with the life science crowd and really dont think i wouldve enjoyed taking the upper division sciences, Bio stats sounds god awful.

congrats!!! why are people hating? it’s unnecessarily. i am doing the same thing. pre psych major. but applying to med school to be a dermatologist.
you dont have to be a bio major to apply for med school. also having a back up degree in athro isnt bad.

well i guess everyone’s right then. it is useful if you plan to do something like going to med school, law school, etc.
