The Iron Bowl tickets I bought in August could now pay my Auburn freshman son’s out of state tuition next spring! Naaaaah - I’m a band mom, gota see him march!

I’d sell them and watch the video.

I’d sell them. Watch the video. And feel better each time I watched it!!!

Me too.
Where/what is the Iron Bowl anyway?

Actually, Auburn is opening up the arena and having large screens play the game live for all who do not have tickets yet still get to tailgate and still get the excitement from the game. They did that for the Auburn / Georgia game and those inside the arena said they heard the stadium crowd roar during the miracle catch and felt like they were there.

It is very tempting - hmmmmmmm.

EmeraldKity, the Iron Bowl is the in-state rivalry between Auburn and Alabama…huge SEC rivalry. This year is the 1st year ever that the Iron Bowl also decides the SEC west. Very exciting for my son who I told to just enjoy marching because the football team will be rebuilding their program with a new coach for the next few years and likely not be too exciting.

I love football…and I would sell them too!

I just looked up Auburn’s out-of-state tuition – it’s $26K. Maybe that’s for the year, in which case one semester is $13K. If I had to miss seeing my band son march in a boring football game and instead receive that amount of money, I’d do it in an instant. That’s a lot of money.

Very Happy - I am exagerating just a bit - however…

52 Week Return On Investment (2013)

Dow Jones Industrial Average - +28.40%
NASDAQ Composite - +36.39%
NYSE Composite - + 25.81%
S&P 500 - +32.62%

Tickets to the Auburn/Alabama Ironbowl Game - +670.00% (trending up)

The War Eagle Investment Plan!

Sell. In a heartbeat.

How much would you sell them for?

I’m finding $400 each.

My husband said he’s seen them selling from $450 to $680 each where we sit, which is in the stratosphere but on the 30 yard line. However, we really are not selling - just amused myself as this totally was unexpected and since I just check the “ebill” for next semester realized how much I could knock that down!

Should be lots of fun, regardless of the score - the band never loses!

So the purpose of this thread was?
;)

Went to a Big East basketball school. Generally sold my tickets to big games for 4-5x my cost with no guilt. (Granted that was when you just got the tickets an didn’t show ID to get get in).

I was poor student paying 100% of my own way, so that sort of game paid groceries for 1-2 weeks.

Taking up space I guess - somewhat facinated by the increased value and musing out loud…that’s all :)

Well, I thought it was an interesting comparison of returns on investment, emeraldkity4, and I’m really not into football or band. :)

The rising value of tickets can be amazing. I know that I bought my son’s BCS ticket last year for $75. He sold it for $1300.

Only halfway joking, this makes me want to buy a few football tickets.

So why is it called the Iron Bowl?

There was actually a decent amount of steel production in the Birmingham area at one point. Not sure whether any of it still exists.

threeofthree - this is one of my d’s top choice schools right now so anything I can actually read from someone is fun.

I imagine that would be a game even I wouldn’t want to miss, and I just saw the first college football game of my life this year when hubby took me to a game.

D hasn’t taken off the sweatshirt or t-shirt yet. So are you saying the coach is leaving this year?
