wrinkly eye lids - best creams?

I’ve been through several makeup boards, but you people are always so helpful I’m asking here. I’m 51 and am told I look younger, but my eyelids are becoming very ‘wrinkly’ near my nose. It’s become so annoying that I’ve been applying a darker eye shadow in that area to disguise them. This is annoying since I use concealer for dark circles and generally try to lighten the area on either side of my nose.

So…any magic primers or lotions or eye shadow brands I can use to diminish this? Thanks in advance!

Do you use a magnifying glass? if you do, stop using them.

Have you had botox or fillers? I will say that I have used eye creams since I was 18. I started with my mother’s Charles of the Ritz and everything else. I find that almost everything is helpful…I use anything from oil of olay to chanel. They all work.

I think you want something with collagen in it. I use a Skinceuticals brand eye cream (above my eyes as well as below) that provides this, but like bevhills says, there are a lot of brands out there that make a collagen eye cream.

Are you having issues with wrinkles or crepe-ing (sp??)

I believe @bevhills when she says almost everything is helpful. As long as it is something for the eye area (and doesn’t burn!), that would be good. I recently bought some Olay eye cream that I keep by my bed to remind me to apply before sleeping. I noticed that the drug store had a 2 for 1 generic of the same Olay formula. That probably would have been fine, too.

I don’t know if mine has collagen, that is probably would be good, too.

Since you use eyeshadow, is there an eyeshadow that also is helpful? That would seem to be a twofer!

If one has crepe y eyelids it is better not to call attention to the lids with shadow especially the shiny stuff… The “rule” is lots of mascara and a bit of liner on the lower part of the eye. That makes you eyes look bigger.

Try acupuncture. One Tawainese guy I used he said several actresses have been using him for cosmetic purpose. Collagen production can be stimulated using needle. I have a lot of massage and that’s include facial massage weekly.

…I just read that women over 50 should never put eyeliner or mascara under their eyes - upper lids and lashes only.
Now I’m really in a quandary.

I look awful without liner on my lower lid. I have almost no lower lashes and look half asleep without something. I use a soft pencil though that is smudgy, not hard edged. Another makeup trick that really opens up your eyes is to dab a tiny amount of white or off white shadow on the inside corner of your eye (on that little bump next to your tear duct and then blend it out a bit). It really brightens everything up. Like this.
<a href=“Makeup Tip : Highlighting Inner Corner of the Eyes with White Shadow”>http://www.glamcheck.com/fashion/2013/08/08/highlighting-inner-corner-of-eyes-with-white-shadow/

My problem is that I keep buying eye creams and then forget that I have them. Ugh.

EPTR, same problem here. I spent hundreds of dollars buying stuff and forgot to use them. I will never buy anything again.

Eptr: come on over…I am trying to find all the stuff that I just purchased…I may have some of your stuff here.

Wouldn’t doubt it, Bevhills!

The other day I was putting on my makeup and found a tube of a clinique eye cream for getting rid of dark circles. i don’t even remember buying it.

@dragonmom‌ …I had also read about the no liner or mascara below. As a matter of fact I went to Merle Norman and had an eye makeover. She put thin black black liner on the top, and said no bottom liner. Well I did that for awhile and noticed in pictures my already small eyes just looked tinier. I have gone back to no liner above, and slightly smudged pencil liner below but not all the way to the corner toward the nose. I put a tiny bit on the upper corner to wing if up together with the bottom liner. They look bigger. Ditching that liquid liner.

Eptr, I bought that clinique cream. Didn’t do a thing :-(. I like the white shadow idea. I don’t have white, but I’ll try a very light tan and see if that helps. Thanks!

I’m almost 60. A month ago I got my hair cut a short shag pixie from a shoulder length bob. It looks surprisingly good. I noticed that the upper lids only theory looked drab, so when I changed my hair I changed only one thing. Lower lid soft liner with mascara. It looks very good accenting the eyes. People actually did not recognize me . This is the most compliments I have ever received.

Agree the no lower mascara thing doesn’t make sense when the lashes are already thinner or have lightened. It almost feels arbitrary- like a big stamp that you’re older. And it doesn’t look balanced to me. Just go easy. I like Origins and Murad.

I’ve heard the less make up the better as one is getting older. I’m now wearing nude color as in nothing.

If I went completely without make-up somebody would call an ambulance. Or the coroner.

I’m 57, and only notice it when I wear eye makeup, which I don’t do very often. I can’t when I wear glasses because my lashes hit the lens.
I think any cream helps, and don’t pull on the eye area, just pat.
Neutrogena and several other manufactures make good eye creams.
I look for a serum preparation.

I have thick and long but blond eyelashes. If I only wore makeup on the top it would look odd.
It intrigues me that so many of my peers are wearing false lashes.
It does take a long time to put on mascara though, so no blond is showing.

I’m not going to add another step.
Especially considering I have to stand so close to the mirror that I can barely use pencil eyeliner!
( I draw blue along the inside lower lid, to make the whites stand out)

BTW- this book is best how to for make up application ever.

@emeraldkity4…have you ever thought of having your eyelashes tinted?
