http://one.org (white writsband)
—“ONE is a new effort by Americans to rally Americans ONE by ONE to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty.” You’ve probably seen the commercial with a whole bunch of celebrities in it, like Brad Pitt, on tv.

http://www.livestrong.org (yellow wristband)
—The one that started it all. Lance Armstrong’s yellow Nike wristband that benefits cancer research.

http://curesearch.org (green wristband)
—Benefits the National Childhood Cancer Foundation to help children with defferents types of cancer…as you could infer…

http://www.until.org/ (metal bracelets and different designs)
—“Until There’s A Cure® is a national organization dedicated to eradicating HIV/AIDS by raising awareness and funds to combat this pandemic.” This site has A LOT of different designs that are a little more money but a lot fancier than the traditional rubber/silicon bands. a lot of celebrities support this too.

there’s also the pink breast cancer wirstband, but that one has a whole bunch of different websites and designs. there are many other ones (like the blue tsunami one and red aids research one), but the ones above are the most unique that have their own official website. also, these wristbands have a pretty unique color (white, yellow, green). i’ve seen lots of bands that just seem to be made up by companies to rip off actual charities. and then there are the ones that are completely pointless, like the ones that say “love” or “rebel” or “sexy”. anyway, if you know another unique wristband, post the website…

wrist band craze is lame… congratulations losers you donated a dollar, and now feel the need to brag about it. how much of that dollar went to the charity, and not to manufacturing the cheap plastic bands? just donate $25 and keep that fact to yourself.

im not talking to anybody in this thread, just had to vent.

I personally think the wristbands are a really good idea. Not only are you donating money, but you are donating money simply by buying a wristband, which you can then wear. And because all the wristbands are only one or two dollars, and because they have been so popularized, many more people would buy them than would ever just donate money. I had a livestrong one, but then it broke, and I have one from Borders that sends money to 3rd world country kids, but it is too small to wear, and then I wear a purple hope one that is for battered women, and a light pink breast cancer one for the Susan G Koman foundation. And just from the livestrong bracelets, tons and tons of money has been raised to fight cancer. So not only was it a good idea, but it works, too.
