Write about achievement or low GPA?

So initially during my time as a CC student I started off on the wrong note. Later on I picked up the pace and went from a low GPA to now a 3.7 UW. The transfer essay states to write an achievement or why your grades weren’t up to par initially…I have a strong achievement essay & thought I should show my positive side as an applicant rather than discuss past mistakes that probably many other applicants will be talking about.
Regardless, should I discuss why I started off on the wrong foot? or I’m just hoping if anything I get a supplementary to explain myself in that area

I think you should use the opportunity to write about an achievement and discuss the GPA in the additional information section.

The Alan Gelb Rule of admissions essays applies here: Never explain, complain, or brag. Great advice.
