I’m writing a letter to college because I made a mistake in my application by putting that I took a test in December instead of January. What should I say in the letter?

Just tell them the facts. If you’re talking about taking the SAT this January instead of next month, it may not matter if the application cut off is Jan. 1st or earlier. If you’re talking about last January (2011) versus December 2010, I would just skip it.

They should have your actual score report anyway - yes? I would imagine that they will use the official reports, and may not even notice the difference on common app. At any rate, I doubt that it would matter much, there would be nothing to gain or lose by the mistake, so I think it would be overlooked.

You do not have to write the letter. Errors like that on application mean nothing.

LOL: no kidding. If I were the office worker to receive such a thing, I’d delete it immediately.
