Writing About Coincidences

Well, they’re not necessarily coincidences, but in retrospect I’ve found that these two seemingly arbitrary decisions essentially formed my high school career. I assume it’d make an interesting little story if executed properly, but it’s not really about struggling through something or anything dramatic like that. Would something as light as this be an alright topic for the common app essay?

What types of things are you talking about? Are they your decisions and are they connected in any way? I think it would be fine, but every story should have a purpose or a message you want to get across so make sure you have some idea of what that would be before writing or during the writing process

The word you are looking for might be serendipity.
If it illuminates your character or abilities then its a good topic.

^^ I love the word serendipity. It is absolutely one of my favorite words in the english language. But it suggests something that happened by chance or coincidence, which I guess is what you mentioned in your title. You later on mention they were decisions though, so I don’t know how much of it is chance or coincidence

Ah I guess neither of those words would be a perfect match for what I meant.

Basically I bought a book I knew absolutely nothing about in middle school, only thinking that the title (Psychology) sounded intriguing. Because of this, not only did I soon find my way to neuroscience, but it had also enhanced my experiences and thoughts about other activities such as music.
