<p>I went to Cornell summer college and did a 6 week course in chemistry - I want to be a chemical engineer. Is it cliche or unwelcome to mention my experience in the summer college in my essay? I want the fact that I attended to be an asset on my application.</p>
<p>I think that could definitely mention your summer college experience. I highly doubt it will be an asset to your application, but if it helps to show how it sparked your interest in chemical engineering, then I think it would be good to mention.</p>

<p>I would mention it, but it won’t make a bit of difference in your admission. The fact that you are obviously very interested in Cornell is all that your experience will reveal. I have seen lots of kids who attend summer college who are subsequently rejected. Use it as an illustration of your interests and passion, but no more.</p>
