Writing about financial hardships?

I’m trying to figure out some supplemental essays and, for many of them, I’m tempted to write about my father leaving his job and not working for several months. As a result, I took up a second job and worked 30-40+ hours a week all summer and was my family’s only source of income. It was a significant point of my life; I learned a lot about responsibility and gained some real world working experience (as lame as that sounds).
However, how will colleges, even “need-blind” ones, react to this blatant indication of my subpar financial situation? Is it a bad idea?

It’ll only be a bad idea for need aware schools. However need blind means exactly that; need blind. Considering it’s a pivotal moment in your growth, I’d definitely include it
