Writing about long-term career goals for biology

This might sound silly to some, but I really don’t know how to write about my long-term career objectives. I’m a third year biology student, and I know I want to finish my BS, then get a PhD, and then do research. I am not sure what concentration - it’s easier to say which I’m NOT interested in at this point. How would you go about writing an essay with a 500 word limit about this topic? What kind of things would it include? I can imagine for example picking 3 different areas in biology that sound interesting, explain why I might want to study them in graduate school, and then… what? Is it expected that I know what I will want to do after graduate school? Does anyone know of a place where I can look at examples of this type of thing?
