Writing/Grammar Thread

It would be cool if this thread was for little writing/grammar problems in our essays.

Is the expression

in new light

or in a new light?

ex 1. He saw the teacher in new light.
ex 2. He saw the teacher in a new light.

Thanks.

I think it's ex 2...I could very well be mistakened

2 for sure.

definitely #2

thx hehe

I was wondering since light, like water, is not quantitative.

If you mean he regarded his teacher in a new way, then it's #2.

If you mean the teacher was actually illuminated by a new source of light, then #1 would work just fine.

I was not scared (nor vs or) lost as much as I was curious.

thanks.

replace not with "neither" and use nor...I could very well be mistakened

i agree with ecnerwalc... I don't think he is mistakened
