<p>Do some schools ask for a writing sample? </p>

<p>My IB Coordinator told us that doing a stellar job on the Extended Essay (4,000 word research paper) gives us a substantial work to submit to colleges.</p>

<p>When applying next year, How would I know to send a copy of my extended essay or not?</p>

<p>Some schools specifically ask for writing sample (Reed does, for example) but they usually give guidelines on how long they want.</p>

<p>The most selective schools won’t like unsolicited writing samples, especially if it’s 4000 words</p>
