Hello parents of CC,
I just graduated from highschool and received a lot of gifts from friends and family. I’m writing thank you notes at the moment and was just wondering how exactly to express my appreciation for the monetary gifts. I would appreciate your suggestions and input.

Just thank you. Do not list the amount.

Do tell them you appreciate their support and generosity. Also let them know how helpful their gift will be when you start school in the fall.

Dear ____,

Thanks so much for the generous gift. It will come in very handy when purchasing items for college. (I plan on purchasing new luggage to make packing easier. OR I plan on taking responsibility for paying for my textbooks and phone bill myself, your gift will help with that the first semester while I transition into budgeting while learning a new lifestyle.)

Thanks so much,

Just thank them for their generosity and say you are looking forward to college. You don’t need to mention an amount or say what you plan to spend it on.

Thank them for their generosity, and if you saw them during the celebrations you could mention that it was great to see them. The important thing is that the note is prompt.

I always thank them for their generosity. Then I usually add a line in like “Your support throughout the years had meant so much to me, and I appreciate your generosity in helping me embark on this new stage of my life.” Or something like that. I’ve had a few older relatives (like great aunts) tell my grandma that I was “such a sweet girl” for thanking them for their support lol. So usually that works

Just got the sweetest one from S1’s roommate. He said he appreciated our gifts and that having us in his life has been a great blessing. I thought that was just the sweetest thing!

Thanks them for their generosity. If they attended graduation and/or party, mention that it was meaningful to have them share your celebration.
