writing these essays - ethical and safe?

Hi guys.

I noticed that computer science is jointly available through Arts and Sciences as well as Engineering. The requirements for both are about the same, except one requires foreign language, and the other requires physics and math.

Is it okay to apply to CAS and CoE for computer science and write the same essay for both? I am devotedly interested in computer science and I don’t really see much of a difference of which college I take my courses at, as long as they’re the same courses.

bump…im curious as welll

My son, recently accepted ED to CAS, was in the same situation. He applied to CAS primary for comp sci and to CoE as an alternate. He felt CAS offered more of the other subjects he was interested in. He wrote different essays for CAS and CoE. His CAS essay talked about how most of his ECs suggested engineering but that his other academic interests directed him towards CAS. His engineering essay was more about his long term interest in engineering related stuff. There was some overlap between the two essays but they weren’t exactly the same. He felt that for CAS, even though Comp Sci is offered jointly, there needed to be some explanation for why that might be a better fit for him.

I used basically the same exact essay for both human ecology and cals and they didn’t mind so I guess u dont have to worry about it.
