As I am still cooping with rejection with my remaining half of a red velvet cake and a glass of milk, I am wondering what are my available options to change this rejection to an acceptance. I do not believe in losing or defeat, nor being turned away by anybody. I work in a ruthless industry (already?), so I learned only way to proceed is to be ruthless myself.

So, I can either appeal this decision through the formal channel or I can challenge in person (or at least question it in person) at UCLA’s admission office. I am only 40 minutes drive away and I know UCLA/Brentwood/Westside very well.

STATs:
GPA: 3.10
Major: Women’s Studies
TAP: Nope
IGETC: Yes.
Major Preq: Yes.
ECs: Internships at CBS Marketing, WB Pictures Marketing, TV Production Co, World Wildlife Fund member, & hs nonsense.

So, to appeal or to visit?

I would call them first…good luck!

^Sandaboy did you hear anything for UCI Merage?

don’t bother driving there. they’re just going to tell you to go through the written appeals process.

Well, the thing is everyone will be calling tomorrow for an answer on why they didn’t get in. I want an answer now … and I have noticed that calling is the most passive way of fighting for what you want.

they’re not going to just magically admit you on the spot. theres a formal process that has to be done. they will tell you the exact same thing in person as on the phone. however it seems like you already made up your mind so i don’t know why you even made this thread.

Which I understand that they must look at my application again, review the first decision, and then consider if I should then be admitted. If I visit them tomorrow, at least I will get to speak to an advisor and have that person explain on their reasoning for rejecting me from where I would argue against in my appeal.

I am frustrated and I have tomorrow off. What am I suppose to do?

i’m just trying to help you save some time. they will answer the same questions on the phone. also, looking at your stats it was was probably your GPA that held you back. What grades are you getting for the spring? You might have a strong case if you’re taking alot of units and get a 4.0 to bring you to around 3.3 which is the avg for your major.

Do you have nothing new to offer that wasn’t on your application? I’m sure college admissions people have dealt with plenty of people like you who are, for lack of a better phrase, sore-losers and will have no problem telling you to go away. The appeals process isn’t a way for you to whine your way into the school. If you have a legitimate gripe or new information then they’ll consider it. They can’t just admit every person that complains to them.

@Trasferuc

I did apply to merage and they said the decision will be out JUNE 30!! lolol I have no idea why so late…probably because I am applying as a change of major though.

^I wish you the best of luck sandaboy you deserve it.

@Jetforcegemix
Thank you, that is a nice suggestion and I do agree that my GPA is what may have held me back. I am in the clear for a straight 4.0 but I don’t think I can wait another year to graduate. I have a wonderful job @ WB waiting for me but finishing is a priority of mine and WB.

@MantisTobaggan
Excuse you MantisTobaggan, I believe there is reason to doubt their decision because no one is perfect, even UCLA with their admission decisions. I believe there is grounds to ask them to double-check their decision and even grounds to challenge their ruling. I am not being a sore-loser F-er, I am being logical.

@ Transferuc

thanks dude! I really hope your pending turns into an acceptance soon! :)

^Only if UCLA personally calls you an apologizes for their disservice.

As I wrote, I only used the term sore-loser for lack of a better phrase but whatever. I doubt actually going to the admissions office would give you an advantage over the people calling in to ask. Won’t hurt to try I guess.

@ Trasferuc

hahahahah…nice one…no but seriously imma appeal don’t worry ;)

I heard Women’s Studies only has 1 prerequisite course?

Your GPA is probably why they rejected you.
