If a student wants for someone to edit or proof read his essay before submission, will someone (such as a TA) at the WRT office be able to do it or help the student improve it before submission to attain the optimal grade possible? Also, are there a lot of inclass essays that students need to write or does that depend on the teacher?

Anyone want to comment please

I’ve never used it, but I’ve heard there’s a writing center, and I assume they’d be available for that sort of thing.

In any event, the format of all the WRT 101/102/103 classes I’ve heard about required several drafts of everything before the final submission, so submitting it to a TA or tutor would seem redundant (unless your writing skills are really lacking and you need more one-on-one coaching and attention than a professor can provide).

My WRT 102 class only had one in-class essay… maybe two? Not a lot, at any rate, and I don’t think any other professors rely on in-class work frequently either. There used to be a required component of the portfolio that you wrote on the spot, but I don’t know if it’s that way anymore.

Your professor will proofread it for you the first time, after your first draft. If you really want to polish it better (fix grammar if that’s your weakness) before the final draft is submitted, then you should go to the Writing Center. But keep in mind, those people there doesn’t not actually “proofread” your whole paper, maybe just the first few paragraph, they do that to make you go back again…this is what people with experience told me, as well as a few professors. If you have friends that’s good in English, you can have them proofread it for you as well.
