WUE colleges that don't have snow

I live in southern California and I am for WUE colleges so that I can get the price of in state tuition but not leave the weather that I love in case I can’t get into any Cali colleges. It seems like every other state but Nevada had snowfall but if not let me know!

WUE tuition is 1.5 times in-state tuition.

There are several CSUs in California that are not that selective.

WUE schools not in snow areas include the various University of Hawaii campuses.

Arizona State University (three campuses); Northern Arizona University (two campuses); the University of Arizona (two campuses); University of Nevada-Las Vegas; University of Nevada-Reno; Eastern New Mexico University (two campuses); University of New Mexico; New Mexico State University; Portland State University; Southern Oregon University; Western Oregon University; Western Washington University. (Not sure how much snow Central Washington gets, and eastern Washington gets more snow than us on the west side of the state so WSU and EWU probably get snow relatively often.)

But as was mentioned, if you are in California you have several really excellent Cal States to choose from, none of which get snow on a regular basis.

NAU touts 100 inches of snow per year.

What are your stats? Non-impacted CSU campuses include Dominguez Hills, Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Stanislaus, East Bay and Humboldt will accept applicants with a minimum Eligibility index to many of their majors. If you cannot meet the minimum EI of 2900 (CSU GPA x800)+ (SAT Math + ERBW) for the Cal States, your WUE choices may also be limited.

What are your stats? Intended major? College Budget?

agree - a sunny clime CSU might be your best bet if you hate snow that much…

Most of the WUE schools have some sort of tiered fee structure. The better your GPA/SAT, the less you’ll pay. So, if CSU entry is questionable, they will certainly charge full fare - which is 2x to 3x a CSI and tough to rationalize.

Outside CA, the Hawaii schools ASU. U of Az, are probably the only guaranteed snow free colleges on the list Anyplace in Oregon, WA, NV, ID, WY, UT and CO will get snowed on. Lots of NM and AZ also get measurable snow most years. UNLV , Oregon Institute of Tech, Portland State will get at least some snow most years but, it doesn’t accumulate like it does at higher elevations.

What are your stats?

Note that ASU’s main Tempe campus is not included in WUE; the ASU campuses that are included appear to be those aimed at non-traditional students. For UA, only one major on the main campus is included in WUE.

that’s a good observation, many of the schools limit their participation to certain majors and sub-campuses. As always read the fine print… Hawaii it is.

Really, WUE is offering no bargains (150% of that state’s instate tuition rate) as the better schools/majors/depts in WUE states don’t participate (your best choice is locked out by snow, the U of Utah if you have the stats for some merit and you can be instate in a year).
Might you be locked out of California because of your stats?

In California, a high school student who does not meet minimum CSU admission requirements for frosh entry can start at community college and follow the pathway to transfer to a CSU or UC. Obviously, this requires doing better in college than in high school, particularly for more competitive campuses and majors.

Univ of Nevada - Reno definitely gets snow every year.

NAU in Flagstaff has snow every winter. And it’s really cold there.

UofA every other year or so will get a freak snowfall, but it only lasts a few hours and then disappears.
