<p>hello all, i know factors such as national recognition/awards, URM, hooks, and others are considered important in the admission process. What other factors, more importantly, the X factors, that distinguish similar candidates? please feel free to expand on the ones i listed and add other things that you consider are the X-factors to admission. I know there are no sure-fire things that could get a person into college, so please, enlighten me.</p>
<p>I have two ecs that i think are pretty cool and interesting.</p>
<p>-EMT: although i’ve seen others that are EMTs (the people who ride on ambulances) i still think it is interesting to get real world experience in the medical field.</p>

<p>Wow, I’m sure colleges want to admit people whose passion is handling balls and riding around in ambulances. Lol seriously? Play a sport or something, kid.</p>
<p>I dont want to get into this but for your information i have been on the varsity cross country, winter track, and tennis teams since freshman year, have won the county championship in tennis and cross country, have a national tennis ranking, and have been named as The Record Athlete of the Week (a major NJ newspaper) for tennis :p</p>
<p>I’m from NJ too, so I know it’s not very hard to get on any varsity team in this state. Pretty much everyone has a few varsity letters, so it’s not really any better than having “National Honor Society” or something like that on your application.</p>
