@Momofmanytoo Thank you! This was a separate acceptance from admissions, and she applied for it separately too. I’m not sure what the St. Xavier program is or if it is the same thing. From what I know, this is called the University Scholars honors program. Here is the link to the information: https://www.xavier.edu/honors/programs/university-scholars
So bummed. …4.0, 9 AP’s, 33 ACT, great EC’s, didn’t move forward for St. Francis scholarship. Even with 23K merit aid, it really is out of the running for us. There goes her #1. Lots of tears here tonight. She loved Xavier.
@Buchholt Aww. I’m sorry. Reach out Admissions or better yet your Regional Admission rep to see if they can offer any additional suggestions. They always seem very open to discussion when I have called. I doubt they would want to lose a very qualified candidate.
hi! I got into Xavier (biology) just last week. I wasn’t expecting my decisions come out so soon, but they awarded me with 23k/year and to cover the cost of supplies. This is my back-up school, currently not sure whether I will go there bc it’s a little too far from home (nj). And the cost even after the scholarships is a little too much. their scholarship only covers like 2 years of schools, and I would have to pay another $70k to cover the rest. Congratulations to anyone that got in & best of luck w/ college process and decisions!
@Momofmanytoo I called because I also could not find this information under the financial aid tab or on the Road to Xavier website. I am starting to keep track of required GPAs for both Merit Scholarships and Nursing since it varies so much by school.
Anyway, what admissions at Xavier told me is that they “do not have a required GPA to keep your scholarship”. They did tell me that any GPA under a 3.0 would probably be flagged anyway by their student success coaching teams for help. I am wondering if maybe they had issues in the past with students not being able to keep up their GPA minimums for scholarship renewals and then having to leave school because their scholarships were not renewed. So could also be why they implemented the student success team as well to assure a higher student retention rate anyway?
On the Nursing side, Xavier requires a 2.75 min GPA to keep your seat in the Nursing program before and after clinicals begin. (for any Nursing majors tracking that one!)
Does anyone know when the extra Xavier Scholarships get released? As in, the ones we had to apply to by 12/1 - Not the big one, but some of the others listed on the website. I feel like this will be the game changer for us. Since we will know details on my child’s other two options within the next month, we are eager to see where we stand financially with XU.
My sone got his aid package this week , but it was only merit aid, I think the fast stuff is late March they said when I called. We will be visiting in the next 6 week or so to see if he loves it. I was surprised that they weather is not warmer, we are from the metro NY area.
