I didn’t really think about it until I applied for a scholarship and it said that anonymous email domains like yahoo, gmail, etc. would be subject to additional review, but anyways–is it okay if my teacher recommendation was sent with a Yahoo email? She’s retired so she used her personal email. Thanks!
@samsunguser - one of my recommenders retired and I used an earthlink email on CommonApp. No issues so far.
That is fine. Most people have gmail or yahoo, not sure what they think they can control there.
@CADREAMIN - if a teacher has an official school email, it is easier to verify that they are legit. If they use personal emails, who knows if it really is a teacher or the student creating a dummy account and writing his / her own recommendations?
While true, the OP stated in the Original Post that the teacher is retired. While exceptions occur, usually once you’re gone, so is the email address. If the scholarship organization wants to verify identity, I’m sure they could contact the GC.
Anyway, as other users have stated, Yahoo is fine.
