Alright, this thread is for current juniors who are planning on applying to Yale in the fall. I’ll go ahead and post my own stats and see what you guys think.

Standardized Testing:

SAT I – 1440 (Just took the new one today, so we’ll see how that goes)
SAT II – Taking those in June
ACT – 33
AP – U.S. History (4), taking AP Physics, AP Calc, and AP U.S. Politics this year, so I’ll get those scores this summer.

Transcript/Grades:

GPA: 4.0 (unweighted)
Rank: 1/436
I took one AP class my sophomore year, three this year, and probably four my senior year.

Extracurriculars:

Telluride Association Summer Program (Just found out I was accepted, kind of like the humanities version of RSI with just as much prestige, 9% acceptance rate)
National Qualifier in Domestic Extemp. Speaking
Numerous Debate/DEX awards at state, regional, and local level
Scholastic Writing Gold Key Award
1st place in Rose State Writing Contest
Editor of and reporter for Newspaper
Internship at town newspaper
Accepted to Girl’s State
Accepted to Youth Leadership Oklahoma (50 juniors from state accepted each year)

Recs, essays, etc. all should be good, I’ll probably be able to use my Telluride essays for my applications.

I really want to go to Yale. They have an excellent journalism program and that’s what I want to major in. My test scores aren’t phenomenal, although they’re not shabby either, but I’m thinking with my extracurricular awards and stuff, and especially with the Telluride acceptance (they only accept 80 people from around the world each year), I’d have a good shot. What do you think?
