Haha nne718, same with me!!
Trying to ignore the fact that it can be submitted tomorrow, and get them written today :D

Anyone else attempting to finish irrelevant homework but being incessantly bothered by your already submitted application? The wait commences…

Physics C problem set on energy principle, or Yale Forum?

The winner was clear.

I’d like your thoughts on my situation.

In the last 5 years Yale has only taken 1 kid a year (except one year with 2 athletes and one non-athlete) from my school. Nobody has been accepted from my school early (barring athletes) in the last 5 years. Also, there is a girl in my grade who is applying early who I’m presuming has very similar stats to me (4.0 or close to it, prob 2200+) and has a brother currently at Yale. According to Naviance, I’m the strongest numbers-wise of anyone in the past 5 years if you value GPA more than SATs (there have been a few with higher SATs than mine [2340] but with lower GPAs [they had like 3.6ish, I have 4.0]). Do you guys think my chances early (or at all) are nonexistent? Or does the history not matter? Do you think they could accept two very qualified candidates early?

^ It’s absolutely impossible to say. I’m pretty sure, though, that the fact that another person from your school with good stats is applying does absolutely nothing to your chances.

I agree that if Yale loves you both, they’ll accept you both. And yes they say there’s no quota for a particular high school, but at the end of the day, you’re competing against the people in your area. If you come from a really competitive county/state, it’s only that much harder to get in.

With that said, just because a similar applicant from your school is applying does not mean you should not. (You said it yourself, she’s not even better than you, just similar).

I have to miss all-you-can-eat pancakes at IHOP because of this :(

Haha. Similar predicament, just change that “C” to a “B” and something to do with the magnitude of torque. =D

Going to start soon…for real this time :)

I’ve got to decide on a moment in history I would like to witness, then I can press submit :)

^When I actually start my supplement, it will be a momentous occasion

^LOL.

Well, Happy Halloween to all you Yale hopefuls! I hope it wasn’t spent trying to get this app in!!

Ahh…you underestimate our abilities :)

Intruder alert! This is for 2015 hopefuls. You’re ruining the top-secret plan.

Just submitted my U of I and Yale apps. Feeling pretty satisfied, even though I rather haphazardly threw everything together today. But now I have lots of homework to begin…

Ugh ST, why couldn’t you just apply EA to Stanford or something? =P

^I actually feel honoured to compete with someone so marvelous.

Yale said it was building 2 new houses. Does that mean the class of 2015 at Yale will be bigger?

^Somewhere I read that they won’t be done for a few years because of construction delays and funding issues, but when they are completed, the incoming classes will be bigger
