Yale 2015 SCEA Hopefuls

LMAO, did they really? I don’t see it. That’s weird considering Harvard SCEA is nonexistent and a EA Hopefuls thread doesn’t do much good when created after November 1. =P

Speaking of Harvard…
Someone I know, who got into Yale SCEA and Harvard regular, told me that it was probably more difficult getting into Yale early than Harvard. I’m not sure what his basis was for that (maybe it’s because most people around where I live choose Stanford for their SCEA school), but either way it’s a little discouraging D:

He also said that Yale has a tendency to accept only one person EA from a public school.

@ sd6

JK I meant just plain “Hopefuls.”

fail on my part.

Well Yale and Harvard regular are very similar in competitiveness, with Harvard being slightly more difficult, but it’s harder to get in to Yale early than regular, so Yale early is probably about as difficult, and maybe slightly more, than Harvard overall.

That thread, along with the Yale 2015 Hopefuls thread, was made long before this SCEA thread.

^
Okay, FINE! Double fail on my part.
I’ll just go cry myself to sleep in a corner.

Why does everyone keep saying that it’s harder to get into Yale early than with regular decision? I applied early, and it’s starting to stress me…

^ Because the applicant pool is more competitive. But if you get rejected SCEA, you would’ve been rejected RD anyway, so there’s no reason to be stressed.

But then RD isn’t actually any easier…

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone has gotten an interview request yet. I haven’t heard from Yale about the ELI a/c but an alum contacted me by email.

acceptance rate vs self-selectivity + athletes (+ legacies?)

well I think SCEA and RD are sorta equally hard to get into, but even if SCEA is a bit harder, I would still love to receive my decisions in december!

Got contacted for an interview! Tentative date is 2 weeks from now. Interviewer is a bit older of an alumnus (Class of '78) but I’m still excited to get his perspective.

MrMeursault, my interviewer is like, class of '65! xD

Wow, maybe I should consider myself lucky :)

So anybody know how heavily Yale weighs interviews?

I believe its last on the list of criteria for admission.
I feel like interviews are more like the “tipping point” if a student is very, very close between the accept/reject point.

I haven’t heard from Yale at all since submitting…:(

Be chill. They make interview assignments before even all parts of the files have arrived, based on the alumni interview volunteers in the area. Not having heard doesn’t mean a thing.

I submitted my application on the 1st and I haven’t heard from them at all. I don’t even know if they have recieved everything except that my supplementary materials reached them and this little fact I gained from the courier service. So many people have already heard! I’m getting really worried.:frowning: I’m an International student with loads of alumni in my region.

MrMeursalt- How long after application submission did you hear from them? Was it after you got your your ELI a/c details?
