Got mine today too.

Since interviews aren’t given to all applicants, if we get one, could that mean that we’ve passed through the first initial round of them reading our applications, or is it just totally meaningless whether or not you got an interview?

^ It depends on how many applicants/how many alumni are in your area. Not an indicator of the strength of your application in any way.

Got my Eli account today! Now for waiting…

So I got Commended on the PSAT, but I forgot to let Yale know through my application… I inputted my 2240 SAT score in the Common App, though (officially sent 34 ACT), so should I send them anything to let them know?

Got my Eli Account! Now interview

Got mine too! I believe getting an interview is still an indicator of strength in some sense. I do NOT think Yale would offer an interview to someone who has, say, an SAT score of 1800 (unless this kid is amazingly talented in a specific area) even if there are abaundant alumni interviewers…

I disagree. It’s been stated many, many times that all students (if an interviewer is available in the area) are given an interview regardless of academic or extracurricular qualification…

If there are enough interviewers in that area, then all applicants will get an interview, regardless of strength

I got my ELI info ![]()
I’m in two minds if I want an interview or not. A good one would be great but what if I mess up! Oh, well. Topic for later days. :)

From what I hear from last years Yale applicants from our school is that everyone who were in the 1900-2400 range got an interview. But one who applied with a lower score than 1900 did not. I know this because this particular girl had incessantly emailed Yale to find out why the others and not she got an interview.

Hmmm…

ricochet and einswen: your extrapolations aren’t 100% correct. Area interviews are conducted w/o knowledge of the applicants’ other metrics by the local coordinators who assign the interviews.

The only caveat is this: if the interview write up deadline has passed and let’s say a particular area hasn’t enough interviewers, a call could happen where the Yale regional officer asks the local coordinator: “Can you make sure John Smith and Jane Doe get interviewed even though it’s past the deadline?”

Obviously it would indicate that Yale still wants info (i.e. is still deciding) on John and Jane. For the others, the die has been cast (accepted or rejected already).

^When is the interview write up deadline?

36 days and counting…

Uh oh… I think one of my teachers didn’t send in his letter of recommendation. Am I totally screwed? I have no clue how to contact him, so I might not be able to see him within the next week or so, although I think he is supposed to be sending all his letters of recomendation soon.

Is it okay if letters are received late? If so (i pray so), what is the latest possible date?

OMGOMG interview tomorrow. So nervous.

^Good luck. Make CC proud =p

As an interviewer, I’ve been told to have all my SCEA write ups in by Dec 1 (I’ve had two, still one to go).

tbOMB93: I would think that that’s a date you should be aiming for as absolute deadline for your missing LOR.

I got my Eli account but am still waiting on an interview. Antici
