Yale 2015 SCEA Hopefuls

Wow that’s an intense degree of self-control.

What’s the lowest test score you have ever seen get accepted into an Ivy League school?

Well the lowest scorer would most likely have been a recruited athlete

I know 1600s (out of 2400) that have gone off to Ivys.

^ wow… that’s encouraging but also discusting considering how many high scorers who worked like hell and are really competitive got rejected…

^But those people distinguish themselves from the traditionally well-rounded, high-scoring applicants in other ways. Usually through athletics

Yup yup. And it leaves less spots for the common folk, but I get that it’s what makes Yale shine in more than just academics, and that ironically makes it more attractive for us common folk (“well-rounded” sounds better =D)

^ The problem is that this Ivy “athletic recruitment” doesn’t make a school like Yale shine in “more than just academics”. Ivy recruits are usually not even close to the top of the class in terms of whatever sport they play (some small exceptions, such as rowing), they’re just passable D1 recruits.

What are everyone’s top college choices at the moment?
For me:
Yale
Carnegie Mellon
Johns Hopkins
UChicago

This may seem like a stupid question, but why do you think that’s the case? Wouldn’t Ivies be able to get top athletes? I mean they can give fincancial aid if that’s a problem, and who would honestly refuse a spot at an Ivy (or an equivalently prestigious school)?

Because Ivies don’t have the best sports teams. If someone’s looking to go pro, they’d go to a school that wins championships and will get them recognized (I have the movie Love & Basketball in mind.)

Quick question: If I want to send in updates to my application (new awards, in this case), can I email them to apply.questions@yale.edu? Or is there somewhere else that I need to send them?

My top are (in order):
Yale
Brown
Duke
Stanford
plus other not as prestigious but still really good schools that I’d be happy enough to go to (emory, vanderbilt, uva, umich…)

Yale
Columbia
Brown
Penn

^^^ That’s what I did.

^ All right, thanks. Did you get any sort of response or confirmation from them?

… Is it for Coca Cola Semi? I’m debating whether or not to pester my admissions officer with yet another email about this, since I’m not sure if it’s significant or not.

^No, it’s not. Guess I didn’t get that… <.< it’s a few music awards.

But you should definitely notify Yale about Coca Cola. That’s a big deal.

@fgdfds, I didn’t apply to Yale SCEA (DUke ED), but my GC told me to just send updates to admissions@(whateveru).edu…good luck w/ your decision!

My top colleges are:
Yale
MIT
Penn
Stanford
