I might be more frustrated by deferral… but it definitely is the preferable of the two.

I thought a deferral was the biggest evil a few weeks ago, but hearing all these harsh words about the meaning of a rejection have changed my mind.

I think if I get deferred it will just drag out all the anxiety rejection would bring closure… horrible horrible closure though

The way I see it, deferral would drag out the anxiety until Spring, but rejection would create depression until Spring, plus the anxiety of wondering if you even have a shot at other top schools

^ i’m with you. I’m hoping for a deferral that i can psych myself into thinking is a rejection, if that makes any sense at all.
Because I really, really want another shot at Yale. But I also really, really need to scare myself into sending out awesome applications everywhere else.

Five more days. :|

I’d LOVE to be deferred; at the very least, I’d choose it over outright rejection.
If I get rejected I’ll totally lose it while filling out my other apps to top schools.

I love how everyone who once disliked deferral is suddenly finding it appealing. :P

Um. I’d just love to be accepted.
:)

^amen to that lol.

anyone who has been over to the cornell and columbia ed threads knows that there’s something seriously ****ed up about this year’s results. hopefully yale will be a lot more merciful…

Well, it is the only Ivy that saw a decrease in early applications…

Yeah. Thankfully, I don’t think we have to expect another slaughter next Wednesday.

Cornell wasn’t AS bad as Columbia, though. It was sort of what I would’ve expected.

Columbia, though, man… I have a couple friends who applied ED but didn’t wanna check till the weekend. I feel bad that their chances are so low… :(

Even though it’s a big relief that Yale didn’t see an increase in SCEA apps, the very slight decrease doesn’t have anything to do with comparing the results to Columbia.

Maybe we CCers will have better luck (knock on wood) but Yale’s acceptance rate will still be in the 13-14%, while Columbia will likely be in the high teens.

seeing today’s penn decisions raised my hopes a little after yesterday’s massacre…

Penn looked much brighter than Columbia (and to a degree Cornell), and I think the Stanford REAers are doing quite well too, though the quality of the rejected applicants is quite amazing. Just 5 more days for us.

Yeah, one of my close friends got into Stanford REA, so I’m super happy for him… but it makes me all the more nervous. Ugh.

Yeah definitely

I think some people didn’t apply early to Yale because the supplement took so long to come out. Stanford and most of the other school’s supplement came out sooner than Yale’s.

^ I can’t picture that as being a legitimate reason for not applying to a school.

If you really love a school, i dont know why you’d be looking at other supplements. I had no idea supps came out on different dates.
