Yale 2023 Applicants Discussion

@LincolnsGF Lol yeah. Please do a preliminary check before storming onto here.

@seagreensoul means nothing. just that the decision are bound to be released soon. its personalized so diff. apps lose the checklist on diff. times.

@blvck_pvnther Nothing really, they are told by protocol to not converse about extra material after the interview. THeir sole job is sending the report, and nothing else is in their control

@prospie2023 Its gonna be kinda hard sifting thru, but idk if Yale mustve updated the software in any way yet. There are serious consequences to cheating the system though, they come in effect eventually.

@TheGuy1 thanks for the response but she never got back to me about setting up a time and date for the interview. That’s why I’m worried.

@blvck_pvnther Oh, so u never had ur interview. I thought u had it, but after that she never responded.

Technically u didnt give an interview so it should be waived with no potential -ve effects on candidacy.

But be sure to write an email to Yale explaining this. I mean you shouldve already considering the fact that its a bit too late now.

Either way, if they dont get a report from the interviewer, it shall be waived.

No problem. Hope this helps.

Just to clarify, while hacking is punishable, simply looking at the source code (OPEN INFORMATION VISIBLE TO THE PUBLIC) is not. @nigeluno

Y’all decisions come out this Thursday. CHILL.

@prospie2023 I know lol. But who would go through the source code without the intent to find unreleased info?

I agree with @prospie2023
Any data received from the source code is obtained legally as it’s transmitted to the portal user.
Fraudulent? No.
Is it something the university could see as ā€œquestionable moral characterā€? Probably.

If you right click on a blank space in a website, you can " View the Source Code" and see the code behind the page

Not promising anything by any means, but in the past people have been able to see (or thought they were seeing) their decision

Imagine:
accept=false
reject=false
waitlist=true

haha

Fair point, the same rumors floated for MIT regarding Hex translations.

But, Idk if what @prospie2023 says is true, but theres a non 0 chance that it could be that.

Also, technically results arent added on the portal until at most a day or a few hrs before release time, im sure, so idk if the source code data is accurate in conveying the info in question, or if it convey st else.

I agree with @dairyqueen too. Its legally okay. Hacking an webpage inspection are 2 different things.

@prospie2023

Is this true or an example lol:

accept=false
reject=false
waitlist=true

I’m just curious.

Lads, could you shed a bit of light on my situation. I got accepted to the Yale-NUS program after just clicking the option on the Common App, but I have no intention of going to Singapore - New Haven is where its at. While I know there are two separate admissions offices, does this suggest anything for a Yale decision?

2 separate entities and process.

idk why but I’m still feeling p rough without an interview…

@ImAwfulWithNames if it makes you feel any better I had a great interview for MIT and I was rejected and a great interview for another school and I was waitlisted. I don’t think the interviews matter much. Don’t worry too much about it . I know that’s easier said than done especially since it’s coming down to the wire and everyone is thinking what they could have done or should have done but it’s best to just know that we have done all we can. ?

@ImAwfulWithNames I feel you. Also didn’t get an interview for Yale and feeling rough, like something is missing…
But my friends have gotten into places where they didn’t get an interview, and had amazing interviews for other schools and getting rejected.
So let’s not worry too much

Does Questbridge finalists have any advantage? My son was not matched. Does he have any chance? I was told he will have some advantage. But so far I don’t see any.

@paranoidmom101 No advantage if not matched, but no disadvantage either. This is solely assuming the QB thing, and no URM or low socioecon status.

If one or 2 of those exist, then its a advantage.

Is being low-income and raised by single parent (not QB) an advantage? Or does it just cancel out with being Asian?

@TheGuy1 thankyou!

@PianoWinterfell according to their common data set being a first generation student would be an advantage. Character and personal qualities are very important.
