Yale 2023 Applicants Discussion

Do you guys think it’s bad if I didn’t apply for financial aid?

@yeet123 ?? hun it’s financial aid, u apply for it if you need it, if you can pay for tuition you dont need to apply. But once again, it doesn’t hurt your chances at admissions if you do apply, as explained by EVERY college website ever. I’ll link a few of them below-
https://college.harvard.edu/financial-aid/how-aid-works
https://admissions.yale.edu/financial-aid
https://admission.princeton.edu/cost-aid

In conclusion, financial aid has nothing to do with your admission chances. I hope this makes you feel better and less worried, only a few days left, all the best!

@daisyduck IMO and by word of some others, the ‘no chance hurt if applied for finaid thing’ is very blurred

@yeet123 I thought every1 applying here should be well versed in basic application material.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I think we can agree that applicants should do research on their college choices, so let’s move on from debating that. Several posts deleted.

On a related note, while some questions might seem to be repetitive (and many are) and/or easily answered via google, there is no prohibition from asking them. What there is a prohibition on is giving snarky responses to said questions. The process is stressful enough, so let’s be civil to one another.

Guys I don’t think colleges even can tell if you view source code and btw its legal. Every site has an open source code. @prospie2023

It also means nothing. There are no hidden Easter eggs in the source code.

agh, I am so nervous. at this point, I just want a definite answer.

Do accepted students already receive financial aid emails?.. some people seem to already have received them on reddit and im just wondering if all the accepted kids get their emails before decisions

also if i got waitlisted at rice :,) does that mean i can still be competitive for ivies

@SaberZero Of course you can still be competitive. Each school is independent of the other and looks for different things. Just curious, are you a fencer (by your username)?

@hs19uni23 Tonight is bound to be a sleepless night for me. I’m so nervous I don’t want an answer anymore. There’s gonna be so much heartbreak urrrrrggggghhhhhhh

@PianoWinterfell no i’m not :,) i made the account when i was watching a certain anime and hence the name

anyone wanna read my yale essays and give me an opinion :,) idk im just stressing out because it’s the last school i’m waiting to hear back from

@PianoWinterfell I’ve seen your posts on so many of my feeds, I hope we can be admitted to one of these schools together and maybe meet one day! haha I relate to the anxious wait

@supple123 Haha I hope so too!! That’d be amazing!

@SabreZero Oh lol I thought you’re a fellow saberist :0 I’d love to read your essays! Feel free to PM me

Good luck everybody!! I really hope each and every one of us end up at our dream school

Two schools of thought on the subject

  1. If you were waitlisted at a college such as RICE, then Yale (or HPSM et al) will also reject you.

  2. http://www.theprospect.net/admissions-fact-or-fiction-yield-protection-aka-tufts-syndrome-40895

@SaberZero perhaps someone like @gibby could be of more use, but as far as I am concerned these would only be requests for more info (such as FASFA corrections that have been sent since February) and not actual finaid packages. Sending our finaid packages would be synonymous with acceptance which would literally invalidate Ivy Day in all accounts. Also, the financial aid office again works totally separate from admissions. Until they get the go-ahead, they don’t send rewards, and the go-ahead day is tomorrow.

@PianoWinterfell I’m not sleeping right now either ?? this is going well

@hs19uni23 LOL the sleepless squad

I should be studying for an Econ test but I’m hanging around on CC ?
