Yale Class of 2019 SCEA Discussion Thread

@kollegekid7 Yes they are, and the results just came out!

@ProximaCentauri‌ I also see the notification in official website but I didn’t receive any letter. Where I can check the results for Yale-NUS?

Hey guys , I’m an applicant from Kenya. Is 16th the static date or could we possibly be notified earlier? Sorry for the brevity and lack of knowledge, I’m kinda new to college confidential

@oderaz “Sorry for the brevity” You wrote that brief thing two times so that it is not brief anymore :)

Anyone know if rejection from Yale-NUS is a strong indication of how Yale will decide on my application? :/

@anon029 No, last year many Ivies, MIT admits were outright rejected by Yale-NUS. I don’t know what their criteria is, but it seems a bit different with other schools.

@anon029 How did you know that you were rejected? I also applied but where I got to check it?

I got deferred…
Anyway, I didn’t send them the extra rec I mailed to Yale and I don’t think I would eventually attend Yale-NUS even if I got in later.
@Eljui7 Did you get the email sent by Yale-NUS?

@ProximaCentauri‌ No, nothing. I have unusual situation. I applied to Yale-NUS, and then received some PINs and instruction how to activate my account on the beginning of October, that was for for Rounnd I. Then, after couple of weeks I logged in to my Commonapp and saw that my application wasn’t send. How could they send my some PINs and instructions it they didn’t receuve my application? I sent them a message and they told me that they will consider e for Round I. On Friday, if I remember, I sent them message to verify that I was considered for Round I. Since that, I didn’t receive anything. On my status page, I can see nothing about decision and there is my application, saying that was for round 2. Did you receive some email?

well, isn’t that just sad…and thanks for the info, very enlightening how you chose to ignore the question and focus on computer glitches

That is most unfortunate Eljui7. But I believe round 2 won’t really make any difference.

Yes I did receive an email asking me to log in and check the results

@ProximaCentauri I am that kind of person who has the worst angel of fortune  That’s true. By the way, are you from 1996 generation?

Hey guys I am like 166-167 centimeters(I hope so, last time I was 165), how that is tragic? I may not get in, but let me do have conversation with such a brilliant people as you :)>-

Yep, born Oct 1996 : )

"@araethusa: That’s probably a good sign! Last year most (maybe all?) of the applicants on some of these threads who had last-minute interviews or whose counselors received last-minute phone calls about grades or whatever ended up getting in!"

@Planner‌ : Woah really? Where did you see that? I hope that’s true!

@oderaz‌ to answer your original question, it’s very unlikely that Yale will release their decisions any earlier than the 16th and if they did they would notify us by email. Unless we hear otherwise, directly from Yale, we can unfortunately expect the 16th (trust me, I wish it were earlier)

@PhoebeGrey Thanks…finally some help.My initiation to CC hasn’t been exactly gracious

@apesrocks and @araethusa: A couple of months ago I read through all the SCEA posts from last year and noticed that a few applicants had last-minute interviews or calls to their counselors. I don’t remember how many of these there were, but I then checked to see whether these applicants had posted their results on the results thread. They had, and as I recall, they all got in. I don’t remember whether I checked every single one, but I think I did. In any case, I think any last-minute contact from an admissions office is a good sign–it probably means they’re seriously considering the applicant and are just seeking confirmation of something. Good luck next Tuesday (or Monday–or earlier!)!

I too got the ussyp and sent the info to yale. Hopefully the 16th will be a good day

@oderaz Although the 16th date could change, it probably won’t. There are kids with scheduled interviews for tomorrow, so they are really using their time up until the very last minute to make decisions.
