Yale Class of 2019 SCEA Discussion Thread

https://secure2.its.yale.edu/acas-ea/?service=https://apply.yale.edu/decision/admit/applicant</a></p>

Just logged into my Eli Account with this link and the tab says “Welcome to Yale College”. Does this happen for everyone? Let me know!

Oh yea but the main message still says " The Admissions Decision site is currently closed."

Anyone know what a deferral looks like? (I know that acceptances generally get the singing bulldog)

7 out of 7 people at my school rejected/deferred from ivies/stanford/MIT. Not super promising. I feel like my essays and stats are better than theirs, but I guess we’ll see.

@premedbound15‌ it happened to me!!! I hope it means we both got in!!!

that’s just the html of the page, nothing influences that web title cause they haven’t released the results framework live yet.

@gentoo‌ we weren’t talking about the html, but the title. Why would the title be “Welcome to Yale College” if @premedbound15 and I hadn’t got in? I’m not getting my hopes totally up, but I can try… :)

@gentoo‌ I was getting starting to feel excited…

@triplehelixva‌ Are you a NoVA applicant, too? :smiley:

I’m feeling super nervous these days.
I’m in China so considering the time difference, I would get the result at 6:00 a.m. 12/17
Not sure if i can still go to school that day…

@mwesigwa‌ haha yea we can only hope. We’ll have to see what everyone’s tab says when they go to the link.

@mwesigwa the html of the page determines what the title is. I got that too.

@premedbound15 Mine said Welcome to Yale College too. I’ll try to be optimistic and take it as an acceptance. However, I’m 90% sure that it will show that for everyone.

I got the same. So… probably not an actual thing.

yep… same

I’m hopeful, but realistic for tomorrow. Not a single person this year got into ivies/mit/stanford, which is a big downer. One of my friends was a really good applicant, does paid research at a big hospital here in Colorado.

He’s way smarter than I am, but I do have two rather unique things about me which I hope will help me stand out.

@anon029 I am!

@paleselan That’s exactly what troubles me. Ideally, you can do everything “right,” excelling in every dimension but still very likely be rejected because there will honestly always be someone who does everything you do, but better.

Just to throw in some perspective: at the end of my alum interview, my interviewer made a point to tell me not to get too high or too low about whatever decision I received. I think it’s important to remember (and more so in the next few days) that this whole process is very subjective and in many ways, a crap shoot. Really, to be competitive applicants at such a great school as Yale is an achievement in of itself. A lot of what may or may not get us in is entirely out of our control. All we can do is try our best and hope for a good outcome of our effort. :)

Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I’ve pretty much resigned myself to not getting in so I won’t be too upset if it’s a rejection or deferral.
Hopefully everyone can get some sleep and thanks for being such an awesome community for these past 4 years.

@anon029‌

Nope, opposite corner of the state.
